Happy Twenty-Ten!
At this time last year, I was soul-crushingly idle at work, fat–well, pudgy anyway–bored, miserable, and lazy. The year ahead of me included my firstborn’s wedding and my own 25th high school reunion. I guess I forgot to include “old” above.
In Twenty Years, No Matter What
I think this shot must have been taken around Thanksgiving of 1985. This group of guys hung out in various configurations throughout the early '80s, and at some point during that time, each of them was my best friend. Pretty cool to have them all together in one shot.
Fritz's Birthday 2004
I didn't get to use my camera much, but other folks did. I had a great time and a very nice turnout for my birthday this year at the Flying Saucer. Thanks to all who made it.
More pictures follow in the extended entry.
Rick's Spring Trip
Just some pictures from Rick's Spring Trip with the band last year, on which I got to play chaperone. These are mostly of him and his friends; you can find others with the rest of the crowd on the Vance Band website.

National Marrow Donor Program
Carolina Donor Services—I'm sure there's something similar near you if you're not from North Carolina
Serious recycling.
Beer & Underappreciated Barmaids

Now, I'm not going to get into bashing the Saucer's sofware and web site tonight, no matter how easy that would be [...]

Fritz’s Birthday
Fritz and Suzette at Fritz’s 37th birthday party.
Camping and Hiking at Lake Fontana
Tony and I went hiking and camping for three days in the Great Smokies. We’d planned to go with a group of his co-workers back in April, but that event got rained out, and no one else seemed interested in rescheduling. Since I’d spent all that money on a tent, a pack, shoes, and so [...]
Plate #42
Fritz’s party at the Flying Saucer.
There is a beer club at the Flying Saucer, of which I have been an active member. If you drink 200 different beers, they throw you a party and immortalize you with a plate on the wall. The biggest obstacle to finishing that is that you can only count three [...]
